A Tribute to a Midtown Visionary
Paragary Pathway is a new lighting experience transforming the Midtown Sutter District with 80+ trees wrapped in warm, ambient LED lights along 28th Street and a portion of 29th Street from J to O streets. Inspired by the path Randy Paragary took to and from work, the project brings light and energy to the streetscape while creating a more welcoming and inviting experience for those who live, work, and visit Midtown.
Announced at Randy’s funeral and made possible through the generosity of family and friends, Paragary Pathway is a tribute to his lasting influence on Midtown and his belief in creating places that bring people together. Commemorative plaques at either end of 28th Street will bookend the project, honoring Randy’s legacy and the many lasting contributions he made to the neighborhood.
Beyond honoring Randy, Paragary Pathway represents an investment in the future of Midtown—using lighting and placemaking to activate the public realm, encourage pedestrian activity, and help create a safer, more vibrant experience throughout the district.

Illuminate: A Paragary Pathway Benefit
October 22 2026 | 5–7 p.m.
Join an intimate evening of food, drinks and entertainment in celebration of Randy’s lasting influence on Midtown and the community he helped shape. Hosted on the patio at Paragary’s, the gathering will offer an opportunity to reconnect, learn about the progress of Paragary Pathway and help bring this tribute to life, with all proceeds directly supporting the project’s installation.

Celebrate the holiday season in Midtown with a festive evening at Café Bernardo as part of Midtown Association’s annual 12 Days of Midtown. Guests are invited to enjoy light bites, beer and wine, holiday décor, and a festive atmosphere while discovering the story behind Paragary Pathway and the legacy that inspired it.
Designed as a welcoming introduction for longtime supporters and those learning about the project for the first time, the evening will bring together the spirit of the holidays and the sense of community Randy Paragary helped cultivate throughout Midtown.
