From Murals to Masterpieces: Meet Bryan Valenzuela

October 8th, 2026

While a student at Sacramento State University, Bryan Valenzuela found his love for visual arts. After picking up skills working at a museum, Valenzuela knew his calling was to become an artist. Spanning from wine labels to massive murals, some of his most well-known works are here in Sacramento, CA.

When looking at Valenzuela’s art from afar, you see an awe-inspiring work of art. As you get closer, you’ll notice hundreds of thousands of hand-written messages based on culture, history, and more. For Bryan, the words become an added layer of content that is visually interesting when someone decides to step closer and investigate.

Although Valenzuela has been active as a professional artist for two decades, his first piece of public art did not come to fruition until 2016, where he garnered a $350k commission from the City of Sacramento. Using a mix of elements such as acrylic paint, gel transfer, gold leaf, and collage, his work presents a visual chronicle that encapsulates metamorphosis and history hidden in detail.

His accolades include First Place at the Crocker Kingsley Biennial, Best in Show at the California State Fair Fine Art Exhibition, exhibitions at Miami Art Basel and Moniker London, and in 2025, his work entered the permanent collection of the Crocker Art Museum.

Some of Valenzuela’s best-known works in Sacramento are his mural titled “Kumbaya Moment” and an inspiring sculpture behind the doors of Golden 1 Center, titled “Multitudes Converge” – One of the largest public art investments in the City of Sacramento.

Over the years, Bryan’s art has become a recognizable part of Sacramento and Northern California, bringing color and personality to the places where people live, work, and gather. His art has helped make Sacramento more vibrant while creating moments of connection for the communities that experience them every day.
