With social distancing in mind and safety measures in place, the new fitness series is aimed at encouraging an active lifestyle and social interaction, both of which are critical to the health of a thriving community. Classes include Pilates, meditation, dance, yoga, bootcamps, and more.

Week of September 14:
-Friday, September 18: Yoga with her Elevated from 6pm-7pm

Week of September 21:
-Monday, September 21: Pilates in the Park with Humani Pilates
-Wednesday, September 23: Mobility and Movement with Back to Your Roots Fitness
-Thursday, September 24: Tai Chi with Embody Tai Chi
-Friday, September 25: Meditation with Devon
-Saturday, September 26: Dance Fitness with Phisique Dance Fitness

Note: The schedule is subject to change and additional classes may be added at a later date. If high temperatures result in the need for class cancellations, Eventbrite registrants will be alerted and cancellation information will be posted on Explore Midtown social media.

Midtown Parks is excited to offer Fresh Air: Fremont Park, a series of free health and wellness classes in Midtown August through October 2020. Launched last summer, Midtown Parks is non-profit 501(c)(3) arm of the organization that dovetails with the mission of the Midtown Association to create a center for culture, creativity and vibrancy in Sacramento’s urban core.

Open to all ages and fitness levels, those interested are encouraged to visit the website to review the weekly class schedule and to register. Each class is limited to 30 participants and pre-registration is required. All participants are asked to adhere to the physical distancing protocols in place that are outlined on the class registration page, per guidelines related to COVID-19 from the County of Sacramento Public Health Department.

The Midtown Association invites the community to participate in the safe and socially distanced 2nd Annual Midtown Mini miniature golf event. Four miniature golf holes will be available in activated spaces in the heart of Midtown at 20th & K streets – two holes next to LowBrau and two in the parking lot at 3fold Communications. The event will include sponsors and golf foursomes with specific 30-minute appointment times (reserved in advance) to eliminate gatherings and keep everyone safe. The area will be sanitized fully between miniature golf appointments.

Proudly sponsored by 3fold Communications and LEXE Boutique with generous support provided by SKK Developments, SMUD, Sutter Health, iHeartMedia Sacramento and V101.1, the Midtown Mini is a fundraising event that supports Midtown Parks, a non-profit 501(c)(3) arm of the organization. Launched in 2019, Midtown Parks dovetails with the mission of the Midtown Association to create a center for culture, creativity, and vibrancy in Sacramento’s urban core.

In addition to the playful miniature golf holes, participants will enjoy gift cards for Midtown restaurants and cocktails to pick up food & drinks to-go, entertaining live art, a caricature artist in action, plus live music along with chances to win great prizes such as an entire Sacramento Kings game suite courtesy of Sutter Health, or a private plane day-trip from Sacramento for the winner and five friends courtesy of BCA Architects. To add to the fun, Midtown Mini participants are encouraged to dress in their best/loudest/most outlandish golf attire for a chance to win the coveted Golden Sweater Vest trophy.

All proceeds from the Midtown Mini support the Midtown Parks non-profit that is aimed at increasing the well-being of the community by activating existing public spaces to provide more opportunities for recreation, leisure, and strengthening neighborhoods.

Note: The event takes place at LowBrau and 3fold Communications.

Artists will learn the fundamental tools necessary to teach their craft while building personalized approaches to building community and culture as an arts leader. Workshop content will address specific topics such as strengthening relationships in the classroom, establishing procedures and capturing attention, and effective communication strategies in individual and group settings.

This year’s harvest brings another delicious California bounty that we at CAFF would love to share with you. But the 2020 harvest also comes as family farms face some of their biggest challenges yet. Wildfires, COVID-19 and economic turmoil are testing the resilience of our food system, small businesses, and our local communities.

Through it all, CAFF has been there for farmers. And with your support, we can carry on our 40-year legacy of showing up when they need us most.

All you need to do? Enjoy an amazing farm-to-table feast!

Pick up at Sacramento's farm-to-table hotspot Magpie Cafe between 5 and 6pm then head home or across the street to Fremont Park for a socially-distanced picnic.

Lavay and her group have toured extensively throughout the United States, Europe, Japan and Canada. They have performed at many of the top festivals, concert venues and nightclubs in the USA, and recently headlined Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City for a special New Year’s Eve show in December, 2014. Whether singing her own compositions or drawing on a large repertoire of classics, Lavay and her all-star 7-piece band bake up an instant recipe for dancing and good times.

Lavay Smith and Her Red Hot Skillet Lickers are internationally recognized as one of the top bands in the world performing classic American jazz, swing, blues and R&B music from the mid-twentieth century.

Lavay and her group have toured extensively throughout the United States, Europe, Japan and Canada. They have performed at many of the top festivals, concert venues and nightclubs in the USA, and recently headlined Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City for a special New Year’s Eve show in December, 2014. Whether singing her own compositions or drawing on a large repertoire of classics, Lavay and her all-star 7-piece band bake up an instant recipe for dancing and good times.
