This new virtual masterclass series offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for local students to interact and learn from some of our nation’s most talented artists, in an accessible and fun format developed specifically for online learning and engagement.

This program offers students a chance to meet new friends, find new forms of creative expression, develop their skills as an artist, and enjoy a daily dose of fun!

Camp includes daily live classes, discussions, and activities as well as access to additional high-quality pre-recorded arts instruction that students can enjoy at any time over the summer.

Daily Schedule:
-9am-10:30am: Daily Morning Zoom “Circle” Warm Up and Welcome
-10:45am-12:15pm: Performing Arts Interactive Live Master Class
-12:30pm-1:30pm: Zoom Lunch Hour
-2:30pm-5pm: Optional pre-recorded class (with CLARA Teaching Artists)
-5pm: Sharing

Students will need a computer, tablet or phone and internet connection.

The Midtown Mini Golf Tournament followed by the Midtown Love celebration will be your opportunity to not only enjoy a wonderful evening of fun and entertainment, but to also give back to the community that you love.

Don’t miss the opportunity to network with many of Midtown’s key influencers, business owners, and community members, highlighted by an 18-hole miniature golf tournament, each hosted at excellent Midtown locations with food, drinks, music hospitality, and themes, and include an exciting ’19th Hole’, which is a challenging putt with an opportunity to win a day-trip with 5 friends on a private plane! Lavay and her group have toured extensively throughout the United States, Europe, Japan and Canada. They have performed at many of the top festivals, concert venues and nightclubs in the USA, and recently headlined Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City for a special New Year’s Eve show in December, 2014. Whether singing her own compositions or drawing on a large repertoire of classics, Lavay and her all-star 7-piece band bake up an instant recipe for dancing and good times.

ALTA Workshops are designed to support artists interested in developing their leadership skills through the arts and becoming trained teaching artists in a classroom setting.

Artists will learn the fundamental tools necessary to teach their craft while building personalized approaches to building community and culture as an arts leader. Workshop content will address specific topics such as strengthening relationships in the classroom, establishing procedures and capturing attention, and effective communication strategies in individual and group settings.

Lavay Smith and Her Red Hot Skillet Lickers are internationally recognized as one of the top bands in the world performing classic American jazz, swing, blues and R&B music from the mid-twentieth century.

Lavay and her group have toured extensively throughout the United States, Europe, Japan and Canada. They have performed at many of the top festivals, concert venues and nightclubs in the USA, and recently headlined Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City for a special New Year’s Eve show in December, 2014. Whether singing her own compositions or drawing on a large repertoire of classics, Lavay and her all-star 7-piece band bake up an instant recipe for dancing and good times.
