Face Value
By Colin Mitchell
Description: This interactive four-level, five-sided rotating totem features faces representing diverse cultures, ethnicities, and expressions on each panel. Each level rotates independently, allowing viewers to create thousands of unique facial combinations by mixing and matching different cultural elements, emotions, and expressions ranging from joy to sadness to contemplation. The piece invites audiences to actively participate in exploring themes of cultural unity, individual identity, and the beauty found in our shared humanity. Through this hands-on experience, the artwork celebrates how different cultures and peoples can come together to create something entirely new while honoring the distinctiveness of each face and story represented.
