What is The Midtown Mini Midtown Love Event?

The Midtown Mini followed by Midtown Love celebration is an opportunity to network with Midtown’s key influencers, business owners, and community members. But more importantly, it is a fundraiser for Midtown Association and Midtown Parks to support the vibrant small business and arts community as well as the local parks in the Midtown district. Created as a playful and more inclusive answer to the traditional golf tournament or plated protein-and-a-pilaf dinner, this event offers an opportunity to experience what makes Midtown the center for culture, creativity and vibrancy in Sacramento’s urban core. Previously known as the “Midtown Gala,” the Midtown Love celebration is on it’s 15th year of bringing the community together for a cocktail style celebration to support the Midtown Association’s small business community. This event was reimagined in 2014 to its current iteration to include a drag show and party inside Faces. In 2019, the Midtown Mini was added to the celebration to support Midtown Parks and to allow the public an opportunity to participate in the event. This effort is led by a dedicated steering committee with leadership from Midtown Association/Midtown Parks Board Members Beth Hassett of WEAVE, Bay Miry of B&M Development, and Ken Turton of Turton Commercial.

The evening starts with the Midtown Mini from 5-7 pm, which is highlighted by a 30-hole miniature golf tournament on 20th street. This portion of the event highlights iconic Lavender Heights’ rainbow crosswalks representing the history of Sacramento’s LGBTQIA+ community and movements. Live music showcases local artists that participate in Midtown’s busking program during farmers markets and Second Saturdays, signature drinks are hosted by Mango’s offering an sample of midtown’s late night entertainment scene, and small bites from Midtown’s award winning locally owned restaurants are available. Incredible prizes and raffle items are available throughout the tournament.

Immediately following the Midtown Mini, we invite our sponsors and key stakeholders to join us for our post-golf celebration, Midtown Love from 7-9 pm inside Faces. Forget the standard golf banquet or plated meal with long presentations, this is a party with mermaids and merpersons in the pool, drag queens, a live auction, incredible cocktails sponsored by Turton Commercial and even more bites to sample from Midtown’s best restaurants. Each year brings new surprises with live art demonstrations and performances that celebrate Midtown’s role in the community nurturing entertainment and the arts. Who’s ready to par-tee?!
