Midtown Association aimed to enhance its capacity to address illegal dumping within the over 100 blocks of its district boundaries by leveraging the $20K in grant funds received through the City of Sacramento’s Recycling and Solid Waste Department. During the grant term from July 1, 2023, to April 30, 2024, the goal was to address illegal dumping, reduce the amount of disposed items, and overall create a cleaner environment in Midtown Sacramento.
Illegal dumping not only degrades our community’s appearance but also poses health and safety risks, including the attraction of pests and the potential for hazardous waste exposure. Addressing illegal dumping aligns with our organizational goals of fostering a safe, clean, and vibrant environment, promoting community pride, and ensuring the well-being of all residents and visitors in Midtown Sacramento.
Midtown Association utilized grant funds to acquire new equipment, supplies, and dumpster rentals, thereby expanding its service capabilities and increasing the frequency and efficiency of clean-up operations. By focusing on high-impact areas within the district, the Clean and Safe team targeted and abated approximately 200 illegal dumping sites, significantly improving overall cleanliness in Midtown.
Midtown Association provides Clean and Safe services to over 104 blocks in the Central City. To learn more about Clean and Safe services and how to request services visit our Business Resources page.
