James joined the Midtown Association in 2022 as our Associate Director of Advocacy, Development & Restaurant Services. In this role, James works to advance the organization’s advocacy platform, promote and remove barriers to new development, and serves as the liaison to our two restaurant districts.

James is a proud graduate of UC Davis with a degree in Political Science – Public Service and an alumnus of the University of California Center Sacramento. Prior to joining the Midtown Association, James founded JCA Strategies, a public affairs consultancy based in Sacramento. Previously, he served as Director of Communications for the California New Car Dealers Association and Head of Public Affairs for the California Fuels & Convenience Alliance. James currently serves on the Board of Directors for UC Davis College of Letters & Sciences Young Alumni Network and the UC Center Sacramento Alumni Advisory Council.

His favorite project at Midtown Association has been the establishment of our new Nightlife and Entertainment Committee, which is dedicated to addressing the needs of our nighttime economy and helping to ensure visitors of every kind are welcomed to a Midtown they can truly celebrate as their own. When not at work you can find James hiking, kayaking, golfing, or more realistically, enjoying one of Midtown’s amazing bars, wineries, or breweries.
