Description: The vision for the sculpture came from the imagery of wings within the heavens and the implied space beyond. The mirrored sides and implied space are inspired by the idea that physical forms are juxtaposed against what is seen and unseen. The architecture of the Angelic Wings is inspired by the art deco movement, and they are proportioned with the Fibonacci sequence to create balance and order.

About the Artist: Seth Johnson is a Landscape Architect, fabricator, painter, and sculptor. Seth has spent an extensive amount of time exploring and learning about the natural and built environment. He has lived throughout the greater Sierra Nevada Mountain Area and finds the Sierra’s to have the most dynamic environment. This environment encompasses a community that embraces the Sierra’s natural beauty that inspires his art. His primary objective is to weave artistic concepts and natural landscapes flora and civic ideas into his projects. He strives to produce designs that are striking and artfully produced. Each design and construction project is its own masterpiece, while certain themes and characteristics flow through his work, he continues to stress the impacts of fine art design into sculpture. His art strives to interpret the beauty of the natural environment, while his design philosophy strives to create environmental synergy. He approaches the geometric and modern forms as an approach to blend architecture with his sculptures. The use of strong native forms and interpretive forms in the built environment connotates a sense of civic strength, contemplation, and interest. He uses bright colors and forms to juxtapose the surrounding environmental colors and the built environment. His sculptures are brought to life through the use of his formal art training, with a strong background in industrial fabrication to create larger-than-life art works.
