Second Saturday Special Events

Second Saturday at the Midtown Farmers Market

Location: 20th and K Streets
Time: 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Join us at our weekly Midtown Farmers Market for special Second Saturday activities including free yoga classes, live music from local musicians and a NEW monthly pop-up wine and beer garden. Get tickets to The Garden here.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Fremont Park Family Friendly Arts & Crafts

Location: 1515 Q Street
Time: 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Fun and surprising family-friendly interactive arts performances will include glitter tattoos, face painting, giant bubbles, hands-on crafts, and a family-friendly free outdoor concert with Code Blues at Fremont Park (16th & P) hosted by Capitol Area Development Authority (CADA). Plus, Rumpelstiltskin Yarn Store will be leading a community knitting activity in the park in celebration of Worldwide Knit in Public Day. Knit kits will be provided (while supplies last; first come, first served) and participants are encouraged to bring a blanket, lunch from nearby, and knit together in public at the park. Rumpelstiltskin Yarn Store will also provide a raffle prize for one lucky participant that will be announced at the end of the event and all pieces will contribute to a community scarf that will be displayed at the park after the event as well.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Music, Entertainment & Live Chalk Art at 24/K Block

Location: K Street in between 23rd & 24th Street
Time: 4-8 p.m.

At the 24/K block, visitors can enjoy live entertainment, live chalk art and Instagram-worthy photo opportunities. Join us for this mini festival in the street from 4-8 p.m.! Creative Performances & Art Market at MARRS

Location: 20th & K Street in front of MARRS
Time: 4 – 8 p.m.

Roaming Musicians on 16th Street

Location: 16th Street from C to P
Time: 4-8 p.m.

Enjoy live music as you stroll between Fremont Park, dining and art pop-ups at 16th and J, and activities at The Mansion Apartments. Hosted by Blue Diamond and Downtown Sacramento Partnership. 

 

Street Buskers at Midtown Sutter

Location: 1401 28th Street
Time: 4-8 p.m.

Walk along the streets of Midtown Sutter from 4-8 p.m. to enjoy music from talented street buskers, endless dining options and more! Hosted by Stonebridge Properties.

 

Sac Free Art Drop Returns

Location: Outside near Trade Coffee at 2220 K Street 
Time: Chest will be out in the morning at an undisclosed time! 

Sacramento Free Art Drop re-emerges for the first time since 2020 realigning with the re-birth of Second Saturdays in Midtown! Donate your free art to the chest @thetradecollab – anything is welcome including paintings, art supplies, fashion, stickers, prints and more.

Visit the chest to find free local art. Only take one piece from the chest – and make sure to tag the artist if they left their social handle!

Live Music at the Hyatt House

Location: 2719 K St
Time: 6-8 p.m.

Visit Midtown’s newest hotel, Hyatt House, and enjoy flamenco guitarist David Perry Molina. Afterwards, grab drinks at the historic Star Lounge to find hand-crafted cocktails and a historic upscale inspired setting.

B Street Theatre Presents BROKE-OLOGY

Location: 2700 Capitol Avenue
Time: Show starts at 5 p.m.

Catch the latest show at B Street Theatre – BROKE-OLOGY. BROKE-OLOGY is a tender look at the King family at a crossroads. Now widowed, William lives in the same house where he and his wife raised their two sons. As William deals with the challenges of getting older, the boys must face the prospect of taking care of their father while also pursuing their own best lives. Art & Music at Veg Café

Location: 2431 J Street on the Second Floor

Check out @sacartist @derreckjarts with live music by @clemon77  at Veg Café this Second Saturday! These artists have been participating in Second Saturday in Midtown for over 10 years. We’re excited to have their reunions this Saturday!

Capital Stage Presents The Hombres by Tony Meneses

Location: 2215 J Street
Time: Showtimes are 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Enjoy the latest show from Capital Stage – The Hombres by Tony Meneses. The Hombres takes a look at the intimacy of male relationships through the point of view of Machismo culture – THE HOMBRES follows Julián, a gay Latino yoga teacher, as he clashes with the Latino construction workers outside his studio—particularly the older head of the crew, Héctor, who seeks from Julián something he never expected. Second Saturday at Kulture

Location: 2331 K Street
Time: 4:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Find 12+ vendors, artists, a live DJ, and more at Kulture! This family friendly event will also have great food including hot dogs, aguas frescas, churros and more!

Turton Commercial Presents Live Music

Location: 2131 Capitol Ave
Time: Music from 5-8 p.m.

Musician JB Barton will bring some acoustic melodies alongside his band to Turton Commercial’s private reception from 5-8 p.m. Although a private event inside, the band will play on the deck patio, so those passing by can still enjoy and listen to the music.

Geery Theatre Presents "The World Submerged"

Location: 2130 L Street
Time: Doors open at 7:30 p.m.

Stop at the Geery theatre for staged readings of different plays by Ryan Warren’s Second Wind Entertainment. An original play “The World Submerged” will be hosted on May 13th. Find tickets here.

Dreamland Cinema Showtimes

Catch a movie at our favorite underground theatre in Midtown! On Saturday they will be showing two movies! At 5 p.m. watch  Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives. Winner of the top prize at the Cannes Film Festival, Uncle Boonme Who Can Recall His Past Lives is  unique tale of a man embracing life’s greatest mystery. Or at 8 p.m. catch the movie Party Girl. Party Girl follows, New York free spirit Mary as she goes on a screwball-like journey from a life of late nights and hangovers to romance and a career as a librarian in this 1995 cult classic.

Live Jazz Band at At Ease Brewing Company

Location: 1825 I street 
Time: 6- 8 p.m.

Relax and enjoy a beer at At Ease Brewing! On May 13, they will be hosting a live jazz band featuring K*MC Jazz Quartet in their tap room.

Free Music and Celebration at the CLTRE Club

Location: 1409 16th Street (16th and N Streets)
Time: Doors open at 1 p.m. and music starts at 6 p.m. 

Come celebrate your favorite independent artists and local makers! CLTRE Club is a new addition on 16th and to Sacramento’s Second Saturday scene and they are celebrating with food and live music starting at 6 p.m.

Free Music at the Sacramento Bicycle Kitchen

Location: 1915 I Street
Time: Doors open at 6 p.m. and music starts at 7 p.m.

Sacramento Comedy Spot Improv Show

Location: 1050 20th Street
Time: Show starts at 9 p.m.

Sac Comedy Spot is hosting their flagship improv show at 9 p.m. Anti-Cooperation League (ACL) is a high-energy, fast-paced performance. The cast interviews the audience or a special guest and then creates scenes inspired by the interview. Join them for the longest-running comedy show in Sacramento, entertaining the masses since 2007! Harlow's Presents New Wave Society

New Wave Society is where the 80s live! Once a month, the Starlet Room at Harlow’s celebrates when pop music was at its most alternative and subversive. New Wave Society is for the bright synths and emotional atmosphere.

Midtown Mural Walk

Location: Midtown, multiple locations
Time: All Day

One of the best ways to soak up some Midtown culture is by walking around the grid to check out all of our amazing murals. Check out this self-guided Midtown mural walking tour created using the Wide Opens Walls map feature. You can customize your tour by deleting stops or adding additional ones. Once you add it to the tour, it will show on the tour feature that allows you to drag and drop locations, creating the route that suits you. Theatre & Outdoor Movies

Movies at 1801L

Location: 1123 18th Street
Time: Paint class at 10 a.m. (only open to 1801L residents) and outdoor movie starts at 8 p.m.

Residents of 1801L can enjoy a private paint class from Elise Waelder from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Also, stop by at sunset for a movie night next to Nudge Eco Store – make sure to bring a chair and blanket! On May 13, they will be playing Top Gun: Maverick and on June 10 they will be playing The Fast and The Furious. Hosted by the Handle District.

Friend’s of Sutters Fort will host movie nights on select Second Saturday evenings in the park from 8-10pm. On June 10, they will be playing Disney’s “Newsies” starring Christian Bale  ! After 10 p.m., experience the best nightlife Midtown has to offer at our designated Second Saturday afterparties with enhanced art experiences such as live performances, comedy, and dance.

You can find after parties in the heart of Midtown at Midtown Central at Der Biergarten, Faces, Flamingo House, Golden Bear, LowBrau, Mango’s, and The Cabin or keep the party going at Midtown Sutter at after party locations like Harlow’s and Barwest.
