Q: When is Second Saturday?
A: Sutter Health’s Midtown Second Saturday is taking place May through October 2023. Second Saturday is an all-day celebration of local artists, live music and theatre, culinary arts, family-friendly park activities, nightlife and more.
Q: What should I expect at Second Saturday?
A: Second Saturday is a celebration of arts and culture within Midtown Sacramento, and an opportunity to highlight the people who bring it to life. Every Second Saturday will be a unique experience, featuring live art exhibitions, musical and dance performances, family-friendly demonstrations, and food and drink specials at your favorite Midtown bars and restaurants.
Some of the attractions you can find include gallery tours, art markets featuring local talented art vendors, fire dancers, outdoor movie nights, Instagrammable moments around unique art pieces, chalk art, live painting, installments of new iconic murals in Midtown – the list goes on. Q: Where are Second Saturday events held?
A: Each Second Saturday celebration will be held throughout Midtown. Discover art installments, galleries, art pop-ups, live music, special events, and dining and drink specials throughout the district in key locations, such as the Midtown Farmers Market, Fremont Park, art galleries, and more. Q: How can I find the schedule of activities?
A: Each Second Saturday will feature unique activities and experiences, ensuring that each month is as memorable as the last, while retaining the same general schedule. Every Second Saturday, we welcome you to visit galleries, watch theatrical performances, and support creative businesses. At specific times and specific locations, enjoy the following:
- From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., experience an enhanced Midtown Farmers Market with yoga, live art experiences, and the Garden, a beer and wine experience on 20th Street between J and Capitol.
- From noon to 4 p.m., bring the kids for free hands-on arts activities for families and youth 12 and under at Fremont Park at 16th and P.
- From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., we return to a Second Saturday art walk experience with buskers and activity throughout Midtown. Specifically, stroll along 16th Street from P to C and join us on 28th street from J to N for the Midtown Sutter pub crawl. Enjoy art markets and live performances at 20th and K as well as 24th and K.
- At sunset in May, June and October, enjoy free movies in the park hosted by Friends of Sutter’s Fort and Capital Area Development Authority. And outdoor movies at 1801L near Nudge Eco Store – make sure to bring a chair and blanket!
- After 10 pm, 10 preapproved e-permit holders will host Second Saturday afterparties inside their bar or venue with enhanced art experiences such as live performances, comedy, and dance.

Q: Where should I park for Second Saturday?
A: Second Saturday is about exploring the district and seeing everything Midtown has to offer, and there is no better way to do that than walking, biking, or scootering. We advise all visitors to park at one of Midtown’s parking garages, then exploring the district on foot. A list of Midtown parking lots and garages can be found below.

Q: What are the costs to attend Second Saturday?
A: Nothing! That’s one of the best parts of Second Saturday. Throughout the day, visitors will be treated to free live music and art performances, including educational experiences, art markets, and live music performances. Businesses throughout Midtown will be offering specials and their own activities, which may require tickets and/or entrance fees to participate. Visitors are encouraged to take advantage of these offerings to support the small businesses that make our community special.
Q: How can artists, art vendors and performers sign up to participate?
A: Second Saturday is all about celebrating the incredible artists that make Sacramento a brighter and more vibrant place to live. Artists looking to participate in Second Saturday activities and programming should fill out our artist/performer interest form.
