Mother Earth comprises 18 works that explore artist Charlotte Gibb’s personal connection to the natural world. The exhibit rejoices in the delicate and ephemeral nature of Mother Earth -- her rages, her quiet contemplation, her dignified poses. Inspired by the constant change of nature, these images depict heart-breakingly beautiful moments, both fleeting and powerful: giant pines weathering a raging snowstorm to momentarily reveal a massive wall of granite; ghostly white Aspen trees in the final throes of Autumn; reflections in still water that play tricks on the mind. This scavenger race is similar to an Amazing Race through downtown Sacramento. Teams will solve clues on foot that will lead them to different challenges. Challenges may range from taking a team picture at a location to solving a specific answer to a question as you navigate your way through Sacramento with family and friends! Proceeds from the Sactown Urban Dash will benefit local children's charities and WEAVE, a life-changing non-profit provider that works to build a community that does not tolerate sexual assault, domestic violence and sex trafficking and provides survivors with the support they need to be safe and thrive. WEAVEs vision is a community free of violence and abuse. The Race: The challenges and race is designed to be fun for all ages and ability levels. The course is designed for teams to finish between 60 to 90 minutes; but participants can choose their speed--whether that's a mad dash from clue to clue, or a more leisurely pace. Teams may range in size from two (2) participants all the way up to ten (10) participants; however all participants must be in each challenge photo to receive credit. The clock begins once the air horn is blown and times are recorded as teams cross the finish line. Children are welcome to be a part of the team. The After Party: There will be an after-party with music and raffle at Hot Italian where racers can take a group commemorative photo, receive a free raffle ticket, and trip through the pizza bite bar. All additional drink and food purchases will provide a 25% kickback to our fundraising efforts. Avery Sunshine is a rhythm and blues and soul artist whose background in a number of church choirs has made for music that has been called "refreshingly original" and "radiant." She is currently working and touring to support her third album, Twenty Sixty Four, which was released back in April. Her music recalls Atlanta soul made popular by artists like Andre 3000, but she brings her own charm to the table. Avery Sunshine doesn't just sing - she belts out or carefully hushes notes through her vocal chords. Everything she does is meticulous, but not devoid of humanity. The way she pours herself into her songs is why the genre is called soul in the first place. [less-]

Americana, bluegrass and country music genres are in-the-midst of a renaissance. In all corners of the country, artists are making a name for themselves with remarkably refreshing takes on traditional genres; efforts that are redefining the music beyond simple categorizations. The Brothers Comatose, Mipso, and The Lil Smokies are of this ilk. Each reside in different parts of America – The Brothers Comatose from the West Coast, Mipso from North Carolina’s Triangle region, and The Lil Smokies from the Rocky Mountains. Bringing their own unique interpretations of, and inspired contributions to, the evolution of traditional American music, each act sets a new bar with their compelling live performances. Together on one stage – music fans will be treated to charismatic singers, virtuosic string-slingers, complex and nuanced songwriting and compositions, and more. With each band quickly rising the ranks, “Campfire Caravan” is a nod to the musicians’ early days playing music, when they’d perform for friends and family in basements, living rooms, and around campfires. “Campfire Caravan” celebrates the American tradition of gathering communities around music. In an untraditional format, all three bands rotate in the lineup with no single ensemble acting as the tour headliner. A completely different show will be presented in each city with spontaneous collaborations amongst the groups taking place between sets. [less-]

Boris is a band that cannot be easily defined. It is more of an art project that tends to focus on drone metal, but pushes the boundaries of the genre to its limits by incorporating dream pop, shoegaze and ambient music. Since starting the project 25 years ago, the members of Boris have always taken any element to the music they play and flipped, it turned it inside out and made it wholly new. The three-piece, which consists of only founding members, have a need to experiment. It is almost essential for them to place elements together that are not meant to compliment one another and figure out how to tweak them until they are just right. [less-]

El Ten Eleven may make music, but their compositions do more than sound pleasing. The duo make lush orchestral sounds that conjure nostalgia and deep-seated emotions. They are never ones to shy away from instrumentation -- the band will often use unconventional instruments like a fretless bass or a doubleneck guitar to create their vast sonic space. El Ten Eleven is as much an emotional experience for fans as it is a musical one. It's not uncommon for people to be brought to tears by the band's performance. Having been making music for fifteen years can mean different things for different acts. For El Ten Eleven, it means they have space to experiment and span years of influence. The Friday Show (TFS) could be considered a more unconventional and, at times, bizarre version of variety classics like The Carol Burnett Show. It is hosted by Brian Crall and Lincoln Bartlett, featuring a core cast that is rounded out each week with recurring featured players and guest performers. TFS features all types of comedy, including stand-up,and improv. The highlights of the show are original sketches and characters created by TFS cast members.  The vibe is laid-back, the sketches are big and full of energy, the improv is fast and dynamic, and the characters are creative, big, and fun! Anyone wanting to join the party but not participate in the race may purchase an after-party ticket and join in on the fun! [less-]
