Midtown’s Paws and the Palette bakery and retail shop comes with plenty of bark and bites. Nestled among the impeccably curated collection of animal-themed accessories and gifts at this puppy-cute dog bakery and art gallery, items like chic totes, pet portraits, Sniffany & Co., and Barkingdales chew toys, and wall signs with sayings like
“All my children have paws”…is a glass case filled with rows of tasty treats for Fido. Many of the baked goods are vegan and also contain no wheat, corn, soy or sugar. Shop owner Lisa Spurney, who makes these sweets, is a vegan herself and her 12-year old basset hound, Ladybug, who holds court at the bakery, is allergic to wheat. From her tiny apple cupcakes to her bone-shaped birthday cake made of gluten-free flour, honey, cinnamon and egg substitutes (order two days in advance), these doggy desserts are every bit as healthy as they are tasty (or so we hear from our canine confdidants). 1014 24th St.
